Baby Lorelei

Donation protected
A routine doctor's appointment the morning of July 11th revealed decreased fetal movement and increased fetal heart rate due to an obstruction of the baby's bowels. Kelsey was immediately separated from Oscar and rushed to labor and delivery for an emergency c-section. Baby Lorelei entered the world 5 weeks early at 12:42 pm on 7/11/17 in critical condition.

A team from Vanderbilt traveled to Bowling Green to transport Lorelei to their NICU for extensive surgery of the small and large intestines. Oscar traveled with their baby, while Kelsey recovered at Bowling Green's Medical Center.

After a long 24 hours the family was finally reunited at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Her initial surgery was successful, but Lorelei is not completely out of the woods. She will call Vanderbilt home for the first months of her life, and will undergo another surgery in 6 to 8 weeks. During this time her parents do not plan to leave her side.

The family is incredibly thankful for the amazing team of specialists who are healing their little one, as well as the overwhelming love and support from their friends and loved ones. Over the next two months they will experience additional expenses as they find lodging close to Vanderbilt, travel back and forth to their home in Bowling Green, and daily meals on the road. Any donation is appreciated and will help the family live more comfortably as their daughter grows strong and healthy!
