Baby Leo's Fight

Donation protected
For anyone unfamiliar with the Killingers' story, Amanda's water broke when she was only 22 weeks pregnant. A pregnancy is not considered viable until 23 weeks so she was basically sent home on complete bedrest with instruction to drink excessive amounts of water to keep baby in amniotic fluid.

After 9 days of being on bedrest, the baby decided his plan wasn't the same as Amanda and Tyler's. At 23 weeks and almost two days gestation, Leo John forced his way into the world Sunday, July 23rd weighing only 1 lb 4 oz and 11 inches in length. It was a scary, unexpected, and traumatic delivery and they had low expectations of his survival. His initial fight to survive guided their choices. He's been in the NICU, and his journey has already been a whirlwind of ups and downs including brains bleeds, pneumonia, and advanced respiratory care needs. Leo will likely stay in the NICU until near his due date in November.

Being that Amanda is self employed, with no paid maternity leave, having a baby even at full-term is already financially straining for the Killinger's. However, with this particular situation, they have to at least double the length of maternity leave in addition to the excessive medical bills to come.

Unfortunately, due to Leo's premature birth, Amanda will be very limited to working as she will be spending the majority of her time at the hospital, at baby Leo's side. Tyler has also needed to be there for Amanda, Carson (their two year old), and Leo, and will be missing work as needed as well.

As most of you already know, Tyler and Amanda are both very hard working people who don't often, if ever, ask for help from others, especially when it comes to finances. That is why I am making this account for them. Between the medical expenses, childcare for Carson, loss of one income, Amanda's business costs, and basic costs of living, I wanted them to feel the love and support of all of us in their journey of welcoming Leo into this world. Hopefully we can ease some of the stress financially for them so that they can focus on Leo and Carson.

Most of us can't fathom the helplessness that Amanda and Tyler feel. Many people have offered to help, so I thought this would be a good option to give people the opportunity to do just that. Any help you're able to provide would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you all so much for visiting our page and we will keep the updates coming!
