Baby Girl Harris Spina Bifida Surgery

Donation protected
My sister in law Courtney and her husband Taylor have two little boys, Cash 5 and Otto 2, and is currently pregnant with their first little baby girl. They found out this week that Lil miss has a severe form of Spina Bifida called Chiari Malformation type 2.

A portion of her spinal cord is exposed at the bottom of her back, which causes tension along her spinal cord and part of her brain to be pulled through her skull.

From Courtney:

"This week has been a whirlwind. We've  cried, prayed, cried some more and researched more than I did in college. We have had imaging, tests, and met with some of the most brilliant doctors. Thanks to modern medicine there are a handful of hospitals in the country that are able to perform surgery to repair the spinal defect before the baby is even born.

While there is no cure for Spina Bifida, surgical intervention can significantly decrease the chances of needing additional surgery and prevents additional neurological damage.

We know that this is going to be a lifelong journey, with ups and downs, and there is no way we can get through it alone."

Courtney & Taylor will be traveling to Denver for fetal surgery. Basically they open the uterus, stabilize the baby, perform the surgery  and close Courtney back up.

Courtney will be in the hospital for 3 weeks total while friends and family take care of her two sweet boys.

Due to the high risk of premature labor after the surgery, Courtney will have to stop working and be on bedrest until after her sweet babe is born. She will come via c-section between 32-36 weeks, so sometime in the end of May or beginning of June. During that time Courtney and the kids will be moving to Salt Lake (from Rock Springs, Wyoming) to be closer to Primary Children’s Hospital and family.

Taylor will continue to work in Rock Springs and commute to SLC on his days off.

But this family will need some help.  Between the medical bills for the surgery, taking time off work, Courtney not being able to go back to work (living on one income) and relocated to Salt Lake before the baby is born, it'll be an incredible financial toll to say the least.

So I'm asking for your help. Anything helps! $5 or even $10 collectively adds up. We ask that you not only donate what you can, but to please share this story #PowerInNumbers. Share it on your Facebook page, share it with your boss/work, email it to friends and family because we could use all the help we can get.

And to each and every one of you who donate, we can't thank you enough.
