Baby Garon's Heart

Shauna Knight and Luke West are so excited to welcome their first child, Garon, into the world soon (by July 10th).Shauna works at a bank and Luke is a mechanic. They are a hard-working couple who live in a rural community 2 hours from the nearest hospital equipped to meet Garon's needs.Baby Garon has been diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. This is a serious and sometimes fatal heart condition. Shauna had to leave her home in rural Kansas to be near Children's Mercy where she is to deliver. Luke is trying to juggle being near Shauna and going to work 2 hours away from the hospital. Garon will require open-heart surgery within the first 10 days of his birth in order to redirect his blood flow. They estimate he will need to stay in the hospital 6-8 weeks. After that, he will require at least one additional open-heart surgery and one closed heart procedure over the next couple years. This couple needs help! They are working on buying their first house, which was a very reasonable goal prior to knowing Garon's condition. Now they will need to juggle medical bills, lost wages, and the cost of being 2 hours from home on top of their daily coat of living.When Baby Garon arrives I will post updates and pictures.
