Our who: We are Dallas and Garrett Gutshall. We have been married for 5½ years and have been trying to have a baby for 3 of those years. Our future family is our reason for starting this page.
Our what: We have been diagnosed with infertility and have been advised that in vitro fertilization, aka IVF, is our next step in our journey to become parents. Any and all funds we raise will be used to start our family.
Our where: We live in the small town of Garden City, MO. That’s only 45 minutes south of the Kansas City Metro! Our reproduction specialist is in Overland Park, KS. The 2 ½ hour round trip is worth it to us to start our family!
Our when: We will start the IVF leg of our journey as soon as we have the money to do so. Our dream would be to start in February in 2021! Raising children is a calling God has laid on both of our hearts. We hope to begin the process of IVF as soon as we possibly can!
Our how: This is where YOU come in. We have weighed the pros and cons, we have put off asking, and we have prayed over the possible outcomes. Asking for help with the funding of starting the family of our dreams is hard for both of us. Making the decision to ask for financial assistance is not one we have made lightly or hastily. Getting to this point of asking for help is something we have put off for years. Now we are swallowing our pride to say, “Will you please help us fund our IVF treatments in hopes to fulfill our dreams of bringing baby G into the world?” Your contribution to help us start our family would be an answer to our prayers. Your support would open up for us an opportunity that 7 out of 8 families will never have to pray for or pay for. We are seeking support through your prayers, your encouragement and/or your donation. And we are so thankful and grateful to anyone willing to help us achieve our dream.

Our beginning: We met in 2013 while attending College of the Ozarks. After getting engaged our last semester before graduation we couldn’t wait to start life together! All the excitement and anticipation of marriage was met with in June of 2015 with the wedding of our dreams.
Being married at 22 and 23 presented challenges neither of us expected. Our common beliefs, values and morals brought us together. Our love for each other, respect for marriage, and the common goals of building a family and raising children to love God is what kept us together.
Our infertility: Our journey to start our family began with a decision. A decision we thought was our own to make and manage. After 2 ½ years of marriage and 12 months of trying with no success, our formal infertility journey began in January of 2018. That is when we were forced to learn the lesson that a pregnancy is not a guarantee but a privilege, that becoming a parent is not a right but a blessing and that having a baby is not a choice but a gift.
The journey began with a doctor’s visit that led to a diagnosis of PCOS. That diagnosis led to testing which led to fertility treatments. Those treatments included countless appointments, crazy amounts of drugs and their side effects, shots, ultrasounds, IUI and it all ended in negative pregnancy tests. After 5 failed cycles, $6,500 spent and 8 months gone we made the hard decision to put a hold on our journey. Due to the emotional, physical and financial strain the journey was taking on each of us individually and as a couple we knew we couldn’t in August of 2018 do what the doctor was asking next of us. With our failed cycles, our doctor had told us that IVF is the next step in our journey.
Our growth: Over the past two years we have grown substantially. We have grown in maturity as individuals. We have both made decisions to better our careers. Most importantly we have grown together as a couple. We both believe that children are a blessing from God. We also both believe in God’s timing and in the free will He gives each of us. As desperate as we were to start a family before, we agree that it was a blessing in disguise that we didn’t conceive the first time around.
