Thank you for taking the time to come read our story. Our daughter Brinley is now 4 months old. Around 3 months old we started noticing a flat spot on the right side of her head and some facial asymmetry. We took Brinley to Cranial Technologies in Atlanta for an evaluation for a DOC Band. Upon evaluation, the clinician said that her condition is severe and she is definitely in need of a DOC Band to correct the shape of her head and to fix her facial asymmetry. The time frame for treatment is 3-9 months of age. The clinician also told us, that because Brinley had problems in MULTIPLE areas, that insurance would most likely DENY her claim..... This is incredibly confusing and frustrating as any parent can relate to. I called Tricare, our MILITARY health insurance and they informed us they do not cover the Doc Band. We felt hopeless hearing that and have gone through every channel and pre-treatment possible before coming here in hopes that with your generous help, that we will be able to get the treatment that Brinley needs so desperately.
This life altering treatment is not only of utmost importance, but very time sensitive. After the age of 18 months Brinley's cranial plates will fuse and no longer be able to be re-shaped by the DOC Band. The younger the child is when they start treatment, the faster and better the results. Please help us give our daughter what she needs to correct her facial asymmetry and head shape. Every little bit helps. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts....
