Love for Lydia

Lydia Grace showed up a week late, and then came rushing into the world in a big hurry. So we guess she takes after her momma in that regard! She is also long and lanky like Momma. On the other hand, she got Mommy's dimples, her love of music, and her bizarre affinity for early mornings.
Giving birth was miraculous and also EXPENSIVE. That part was no surprise! More surprising was the onslaught of medical expenses that followed...
-Lydia's tongue tie procedure
-Christabelle's dental expenses
-Irene's foot surgery
-doctors and x-rays and blood tests, oh my!
And THEN we learned that Lydia needs physical therapy to help with her torticollis, and a helmet to fix her bumpy noggin.
Christabelle (Mommy) and Irene (Momma) love being Lydia's moms and watching her blossom and unfold. Just this week she is starting to get really good at tummy time and rolling over. We are figuring out our new routine now that Irene is back to teaching middle school and Christabelle has started her evening/weekend job as a Game Master at an escape room. We are grateful to be earning just enough to get by from week to week, but our medical debt has us underwater.
By the time Lydia is grown up, we hope and believe that teachers will be paid enough to raise a family, and our country will have a single-payer healthcare system so that suprise medical expenses won't have the power to plunge a young family into debt.
Until then...
We are asking for help to lighten our medical debt so we can focus on other things, like buying diapers for Lydia, detergent for the never-ending stream of laundry she produces, and ever-larger socks for her feet that just keep getting bigger and bigger! Anything helps, and no amount is too large or too small.
This is just a snippet of our small family as we grow together and find our way in uncharted territories. Thank you for everyone's continued curiousity about how Lydia is doing, and how our family is making strides in this world. We appreciate all of our friends and family and hope to cook you pancakes soon! (Just let us know when!)
