Baby Ava's Fight for Life

Donation protected
On August 25, 2018, my dear friend, Sandra, was excited to announce that her daughter Delani was in labor.  She was about to be a grandmother for the first time.  Delani had a healthy pregnancy.  Her labor was going well.  Suddenly, after about 7 hours of labor and an epidural shot, the baby's heartbeat began to decline.  Nurses and doctors rushed Delani into surgery.  Sandra and her husband Brian felt helpless as they stood behind the door where a c-section was being performed on their daughter.  Moments later, they could hear the nurse announce that it was a baby girl and the time of birth.  But there were no cries from the baby.  The next thing Delani and her family heard, were doctors performing CPR on baby Ava.  She was born with no heartbeat and she was not breathing.  Needless to say, the family was, and still is, devastated.  Baby Ava was transported to another hospital where she remains on a cooling mat to help reduce the chances of long-term brain damage.  Doctors continue to run tests to try to understand exactly what happened.

In the meantime, baby Ava's father, Matt, was supposed to start a new job today.  This will not happen, as he is needed to help Delani who is recovering from her surgery and needed at the hospital for Baby Ava.  Their daughter will remain in the hospital for an unknown amount of time, accumulating ongoing hospital costs.

The funds that are raised will help with the potential  mounting hospital bills along with assisting Matt & Delani with everyday expenses of rent, utilities, food, etc. while both these new parents are unable to work.
