Hi, all. This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to write but I need your support.
On Jan 19, 2018 my family’s world was shaken to the core. My sister, Michele, was expecting her 3rd child and her 1st son on Feb 5th. She was experiencing labor pains and knew the baby was in a breached position so she went to the hospital. The hospital dismissed her quickly with medication to slow her contractions down. 15 minutes later she was home and the nightmare began. Her water broke and the umbilical cord dropped, suffocating baby Ashton. He was without air for so long that he needed to be revived once the fire department got them to the hospital and an emergency cesarean section was done to extract him.
Ashton held onto life, instantly becoming the center of our family’s heartbeat. He is currently in the NICU with brain injury and has complications requiring two immediate surgeries. He has already undergone cooling therapy and continues with physical & occupational therapy daily.
My sister is filled with grief and heartache for her child, as any parent would be in this situation. She is unable to work because Ashton needs her love and attention most. She also has two other girls who need and depend on her as well. Ashton's medical expenses and lifelong care are burdens she can’t afford to worry about right now. I decided as big sis that I will hold this torch for them. Trying to alleviate some of her financial burdens, so that she can have some peace of mind, in this restless situation.
