Baby Alys

Baby Alys was born with a heart defect called Atrioventricular (AV) Canal. Its the most common defect for people with Down Syndrome. It’s when there's a hole between the heart's chambers and problems with the valves. Or in Alys’s case 3 holes. The holes allow extra blood to flow to the lungs. The extra blood forces the heart to overwork, causing the heart muscle to enlarge and eventually fail. The family is traveling to St Louis this month for heart catheter procedure which will take direct measurements of blood flow and her heart’s anatomy. If they decide it’s warranted, they’ll do surgery right away. Otherwise we’ll go back in another month for the actual repair when she’s s bit bigger. She will have many medical expenses including the surgery, therapies, medications, and more. Please pray for this little angel and her family as go through this. As all of us know this is a time of year when we think about all we are thankful and the blessings we have. This little girl is such a blessing and so is her family.
