Baby Alice Hospital Expenses

Donation protected
Sweet baby Alice, daughter to Andy and Malinda Lash,  was born just 2 days ago with a heart condition discovered 10 hours after birth when they noticed she was looking purple. It was undetected during pregnancy.

Alice was born with Transposition of the Greater Arteries (TGA), which means that her arteries are switched and pumping blood into the opposite destinations.  One artery is circulating oxygen-poor (blue) blood from the body back to the body, and another artery is recirculating oxygen-rich (red) blood from the lungs back to the lungs; this is the opposite of what their function is and thus Alice was not getting enough oxygen circulating through her body after her birth.

She was flown from Thatcher to Phoenix to receive her first successful surgery less than 24 hours after birth, to open up the blood flow temporarily to her heart. Upon further examination, they also discovered that her left artery is a little too small.  She is awaiting her open heart surgery in the next 10-12 days which will correct her arteries' blood flow patterns.  Currently, she is stable and was able to be held again by her parents this afternoon.

Alice was born after a long and hard pregnancy for her mother, Malinda Lash. Malinda suffered extreme nonstop pain of her rectus abdominus (stomach muscle) being torn for more than half of her pregnancy followed by being restricted to bed rest the remaining 15 weeks.  Beyond being unable to tend to her family as she would've liked during this time, she was no longer able to work her daycare jobs in her home, suffering a loss of income for their family.

Alice's hospital stay is expected to be a minimum of 1 month or more depending on how well she does after her open heart surgery. She will continue to receive monthly cardiac care for the first year of her life.

Andy and Malinda will continue to stay with Alice during her 1+ month hospital stay, while other generous family and friends tend to their other 4 children hours away from them. Andy will be on leave from his employment during this time.

Her medical bills amounts remain unknown at this point in time. We offer this GoFundMe page as a resource to welcome any donations to help meet the medical needs of Alice and associated costs. We thank you most humbly and with deep gratitude.

Most of all, please pray for Alice with us.
