Baby Adaley’s Journey to Recovery

On July 9th Adaley Jade Collins was born. She is a twin. Her brother was able to go home but over the past couple months she has remained in the NICU at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born with a small jaw and a Cleft Palate. She needed to gain weight to have the surgery which meant they would expand her jaw & open her airway. With such a small jaw her tongue falls back into her throat and affects her breathing. Which means she cannot be left alone & needs around the clock care. Surgery was attempted on Tuesday September 18th and was unsuccessful due to Adaley having a difficult time with the insertion of her breathing tube needed for surgery. Surgery was attempted again on Thursday September 20th and was again unsuccessful because her bones were to soft to be able to hold the screws needed to hold the expansion equipment. After much thought and talks with Adaley's doctors it's in her best interest to be transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital of Columbus OH  for further care. With this transfer the family will incur many unexpected expenses including housing, gas, food, and Andrews unpaid time off of work on top of other medical expenses (he is the sole provider for their family).
