So the time for a hysterectomy has come. It's been decades of surgeries, pain, and more heartache than I can count. My doctor has determined that I am at very high risk for cancer. I don't have it, presently.... but a combination of my age, all of the scar tissue I have in my abdomen, including my ovaries, even my bladder, intestines, liver and kidneys put me at very high risk to develop it.
Now I'm adopted and probably the scariest part of this, is that I need to do it soon, and I have no idea if this is something I'm genetically predisposed to....
If you'd asked me a while ago about not being able to have kids when I had the surgery, I'd just jump and say "I'll adopt."
As you know I lost my dad this past year, and my life changed forever.
What I'd like to do as I'm 34, unmarried and have no kids, is freeze some of my eggs before I have this hysterectomy so I may one day have a baby of my own to pass on his legacy.
