Just when you think there won’t be any more hurdles for my sister and her husband to get a baby, the foster system gets in the way. We knew this process wouldn’t be easy but we never imagined so much heartache. Anyone who knows us would see these babies are in the best home possible. We are now faced with unexpected and costly lawyer fees in order to keep these babies where they belong.
Many of you know their story already. Michelle and Bernard finally found each other and tried to start a family on their own for years. They’ve spent the last 2 ½ years jumping through all the foster to adopt hoops and were finally blessed with 2 little bundles to love and care for last year.
They brought little Raenan home from the NICU in July, our little preemie weighing only 5 pounds at the time. He's now almost 8 months old and weighs over 22 pounds. We call him our little dumpling and he smiles non-stop.
Then in October they brought our Tristan home at 18 days old. He is 5 months old now and the same size as his big brother. We call him our little truffle and his “old man” laugh is contagious.
They are both such happy little boys, who have brought so much joy and love into all our lives. We started calling them the "twins"...hehe. We feel so blessed to be able to raise these wonderful children and it’s heartbreaking to think we might not continue to have that chance, not only for us but for them.
We know that raising a child isn't easy and the adoption process can add its own unique challenges. We have already made sacrifices and are committed to continuing to sacrifice whatever is necessary to give our babies the love that they need and deserve. We are asking for your help to overcome the financial hurdle that currently stands in the way. Any little bit helps. All the love and support you can give will make this precious family a long-term possibility and we can't begin to express how grateful we are for that.
