This is an update. Thank you so very much for all your contributions. Unemployment Insurance and the Supplement Program have kicked in for my employees. Through this Go Fund Me page and through your checks, we have received $28,000 dollars. That is incredibly generous of each and every one of you. I am overwhelmed by your support, but only a little surprised. You are great friends of our family.
I will keep this fund open, but I wanted to recognize the fact that the immediate need for the employees has been met.
While the news from the Governor is that restaurants can open next week, we will not reopen until a later date. I would like to see how things are going before we do. With social distancing, there will have to be a little bit of a new structure. I also don’t want to reopen and then have to close again. As one of my brilliant cousins at FEMA posted: Don’t take off the parachute just because you are slowing down. Will keep you posted!
I do not want to sell gift certificates because, God forbid, we cannot reopen, I am not comfortable with the liability. I cannot manage take out, as it is very complicated to coordinate.
All of this money would go directly into a group pot and be distributed weekly, based on the number of hours each employee works on a regular basis. Stephen and Alex will coordinate this. If you do not want to pay the additional Go Fund Me fees, you may write a check made out to Babette's Cafe, and mail to us at 573 N Highland Ave NE. Atlanta, GA 30307.
