A Media Channel for Local Artists

Donation protected
For quite some time, BABBLON, LLC, alongside sister company and nonprofit Heroine Spoken Words, Inc., has been a driving force for administering new Educational and Cultural practices in the community. BABBLON has thrown festivals and house concerts in an effort to unite musicians, community members, and activist alike. We will reach out to many leaders and enrich their platforms with a full on multi-media marketing design.

With your help, our local podcasters, musicians, and entrepreneurs will have HD quality coverage of their media and an open access to our platform to spread their message much further. Innovators of the community will have an ongoing platform that will enrich their brands, with both online and tangible products (such as fliers, DVDs, and other merchandise). Although we have seen such successes using our cellphones and laptops, we wish to create an independent Hip-Hop news and media outlet with professional equipment that will appeal to larger audiences and display our creative efforts with quality.

BABBLON, LLC was started as a record label by two performance venue promoters who banded together to support the dreams of their little sister, Gaea LaBelle, beginning her career as a hip-hop artist. LaBelle branched out to build her nonprofit Heroine Spoken Words, Inc. in order to improve the imagery of women in mainstream media with literature and film. As the label began to grow, so did the independent missions of the artists and partners. By 2016, BABBLON [executive] produced 10 music projects, managed and assisted over 25 events, thrown numerous house concerts (that would later become festivals), and, via Heroine Spoken Words, encouraged many community leaders to develop conversations on literature that is appropriate to raise upstanding citizens and thinkers. Ran by educators and authors, Heroine Spoken Words cares tremendously about the deficit in a diverse representation of women in mainstream media. This has been the impetus for us to unite women in the community, providing platforms for more women to perform and experience a community support for their craft.

Hip-Hop is our platform and we firmly believe that this culture is a vital part of education. Today many outlets incorporate Hip-Hop colloquialisms and products in their media, so much so that it has become an embedded part of American media and discourse. BABBLON plans to strengthen its efforts of influencing the positivity that Hip-Hop culture has on the community. By building BABBLON as a hub via social media outlets and our own community driven platform, we plan to produce festivals/events, to host workshops that address common social issues regularly, and to unify existing ones by creating local award shows and broadcast television shows to present and honor the enormous impact that Hip-Hop can have on the public, especially from a local perspective.
