Jerry’s car

I am Jeremy Poor, Jerry Ramirez is one of my closest friends. I started this gofundme campaign so that Jerry could have a way to replace his car. I was also in the car with Jerry on the night of the accident. There were three people in our car, Jerry, Dylan and myself. We all got out of Jerry’s car to assist and Jerry told Dylan and myself to stand back because the scene was so gruesome.

I am from Royse City, Texas and I am a senior at Royse City High School

Jerry Ramirez is one of my closest friends. When Jerry stopped at the accident scene, the driver of the truck that crashed stole his car and took the police on a chase until he crashed Jerry’s car and died in the car along with totally his car. Jerry bought his car with his own money. He had liability insurance and when he talked with his insurance agent, they informed him that he did have underinsured/uninsured motorist on his liability policy however when the car was stolen, it became a stolen vehicle and that is covered under Comprehensive coverage and the insurance of the driver that stole his car would be responsible for the vehicle. However, the driver was an excluded driver on the policy of the truck he had wrecked therefore there was no insurance coverage on Jerry’s car.

The funds will be used to buy Jerry a comparable car and any money leftover will be used for the insurance on the car.

I do not plan to withdraw the money, I plan for it to go directly to Jerry’s bank account.

On April 13th of 2018 my friends and I were headed home from Texas Skatium when we witnessed a drunk driver take out a barrier on S FM 548. When we pulled over to help we could hear the driver yelling “where’s Steven” once we realized someone had been ejected from the truck we ran to my car to grab our phones and use our flashlights to look for Steven. I had already called 911 when we found Steven and I was able to give our location and explain the situation. Our backs were to both vehicles when we heard my car start up. I realized that both of my friends were standing next to me and the drunk driver had jumped in my car and was driving off. While driving away the driver barely missed Steven, my friends and myself. Immediately the 911 operator instructed me to go to the wrecked truck to see if there were additional people in the accident. There were two passengers left in the vehicle. One was visibly upset and one was in serious condition face down in the front seat. I was asked to check for any sign of breathing and a pulse. I instructed my friends to stay back because of the gruesome scene. I know that three victims were taken to the hospital but I am unsure of their condition as of now. The driver, after a police chase, wrecked and was deceased at the scene. My car was totaled. Insurance is not willing to pay for my car because the driver was an excluded driver from the policy of the vehicle he was driving and I only had liability on my car and was told that once it was stolen, it fell under Comprehensive Coverage which is not a part of Liability Insurance. I am relying on anyone that reads this post to help in any way.
Thank you,
Jerry Ramirez
