B.A. Bellec's "Limitless" Fundraiser
I am an author. My first book, Someone's Story, released April 12, 2020. About a year ago. I also co-wrote and co-produced some folk music to go with the book. On the strength of that project, I was awarded a grant to make digital originals during COVID-19 from The Canada Council for the Arts under the premise of producing music for my second novel, Pulse. I decided this novel needed a more electronic sound. With that grant, one of the songs produced is "Limitless ".
Check the Instagram post going up Friday morning to see just some of the people that worked on the project. My idea for Pulse has a music festival in it so the idea of trying to duplicate the festival with animation was a neat way to bring everything together. I am so proud of everybody for pulling this off. That video took 6+ months to make.
This project helped me get through COVID-19. It gave me something to focus on. It helped me write. It helped me grow and network. I can't thank the Canada Council and my amazing collaborators enough.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I won the Reader Views Young Adult Book of the Year. As part of that award win, Reader Views organized a Book Blitz with me to get more exposure. To capitalize on the Book Blitz, I decided to officially reveal the cover for Pulse and I wanted to share the final tour moment with the amazing Pulse team.
The grant project was one of the best experiences of my career only to be surpassed by the award a few months later. I hope we can pay it back a little so The Canada Council for the Arts can give these feelings to another group of artists.
"Dream big and work hard."
If you know nothing about my novels, here is a quick video I put together to end the Book Blitz.
