Christine's Kidney Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Thank you for reading Christine's page!

On December 18,2013 Christine was working late at her job, limping around from a swollen leg, the next day she was admitted to Maine Medical Center for stage IV kidney failure. She thought she was going in to get antibiotics for some kind of flu or an ankle sprain.

Kidney failure usually has no warning signs, which makes it very difficult to cope with the quick and unexpected diagnosis.

Christine was put on dialysis four days after she was admitted. Dialysis takes up 18-24 hours of her week, she is on 9 medications, and a strict diet and very very limited fluid restrictions.

Recently Christine had to leave one of her jobs due to 4 prior hospital stays for high blood pressure which is a very common side effect of kidney failure. Her fiancé picked up a second job to help pay for the medicals bills that are rolling in. They also have an amazing 2 year old son, Talan, who understandably gets upset when his mom leaves overnight for dialysis.

Christine is in the works of getting on the list for kidney transplant, and some possible donors are being tested.
The goal of gofundme is to raise enough money to help pay off some of her medicals bills and pay for the medications she needs to take after transplantation, which can be upwards of $5,000 a month. This will take some stress off of this young growing family.

Thank you so much !!!!! Let's help this young mom go back to having a normal life of a 23 year old!
