Dear Soccer Supporters,
When I applied to have an NPSL team in Temecula in 2013, I had visions of turning this valley into a national soccer powerhouse. I was confident that with my business partner, Vince Paccione, the support of the soccer community, the right mix of talented and high-character athletes, and an outstanding coaching staff; that we could make Temecula FC the next Portland Timber, or Seattle Sounders.
Some may know, while others may not, but I was a player here in Temecula Valley from 1984-1997; then as a youth coach from 2005-2012. I remember the dark days when we played on horrible grass fields, no soccer matches on TV. NFL, NBA, and MLB all had priority over soccer. I remember being so excited just to have soccer match on TV once every 2 weeks. I remember when people would laugh at us at school because we were on the soccer team.
Times have changed, but my vision has stayed the same: To bring to Temecula Valley what every soccer loving country has, their very own professional soccer club to support. This valley is completely different from when I grew up here twenty years ago. Anyone who grew up in the valley during those years probably wouldn't even recognize our fine city if they had moved away, and haven't been back since. It has changed so much for the better.
Vince and I have done some amazing things since 1989, when we first met playing for TVSA all-stars under Coach Mario Martinez, who later started the first club team in the valley; Temecula Alliance. In 2012, we decided to do as Mario Martinez did and help change soccer in the valley forever. We now, for the first time in Temecula history have a professional soccer club. The program has been in existence since August 2nd 2013. We finished our first season with 5 wins, 4 ties, and 6 losses.
Now, we are in a situation where we need to raise $50,000 to keep the club running for 2015. We need the soccer supporters out there to get behind us. It's imperative that we continue to make Temecula FC a place where young talented players can achive their goals. I can promise you that you will see one of the hardest playing teams in the country, and I have a feeling that we are going to do something really special in the years to come!
