Bristol to London OSG

Donation protected
Earlier this year we looked in to a second fundraiser for our non-profit organisation Our Saving Grace (oursavinggrace.co.uk) following the success of our previous event. We decided to enter a 113 mile sportive road cycle from Bristol to London on the 24th August to raise awareness for Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) with the support of friends and family. We have a team of 8 riders including myself and Ryan, Lloyd and Kane Lewis, Mark Gee, Andrew Caton, Jon Maloney and Pete Cox. Those who know us well will know we lost our darling daughter Grace Indi Katy Lewis at 34 weeks gestation due to this cruel condition that affects predominantly identical twin pregnancies (please refer to our website for more detail on this condition and our journey).

We have teamed up with Action Medical Research for children to enter this event and dependent on the amount of funds raised we will donate a significant figure towards a medical breakthrough that the Action Medical Research team are currently working on.  Action Medical Research are seeking a new intervention where ultrasound can be used in replacement to the current process of surgery inside the womb when TTTS is diagnosed during pregnancy. This will essentially carry less risk for the babies in the womb and give the babies a higher survival rate. More detail can be found on their website at http://www.action.org.uk/our_research/twin_twin_transfusion_syndrome_developing_new_way_help_babies_who_are_struggling_womb

We believe all twins should walk side by side.

Earlier this year we also donated a special piece of equipment to the John Radcliffe Hospital in memory of Grace. We donated a Cold Cot. This piece of equipment will give bereaved families the opportunity to spend as much time as comfortable with their babies. Equipment like this is dear to our hearts as unfortunately we did not get to use anything similar. Our Saving Grace will also continue to raise awareness about stillbirth and the taboo surrounding reality. We will fund what we can to essentially comfort bereaved parents to a certain degree and this is also backed by Action Medical Research http://www.action.org.uk/our_research/stillbirth_searching_ways_protect_babies_tragedy_being_stillborn

We ask you from the hole that has been left in our hearts to please sponsor us all. Pennies quickly become pounds.

Lots of Love,

DIG DEEP AND THANK YOU
