Born and raised small-town Yukon girls, we want to expand our dance portfolios by travelling out-of-territory to gain experience in the big cities.
We started in the pre-dance program with Leaping Feats Studio, in Whitehorse, at two years old. When we were just four (on the cusp of five), we both were offered an opportunity to start the Repertory Program at Leaping Feats a year earlier than most. This program ran four days/ week (75 mins/ class), and varied in genres. Leaping Feats grabbed ahold of our hearts, fostered our true passion for dance and gave us a dance-family away from home. We eat, sleep and breath D-A-N-C-E.
In the last eight years not only have we developed a strong bond by choreographing duets, auditioning and performing those routines together for 'Go Nuts' in Whitehorse, we have been exposed to a vast range of dance styles including: Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Break-dancing, etc. We have also travelled out-of-territory to popular dance conventions (such as Groove Street and Acting for Dancers) with and without the studio, providing us with tremendous experience and renewed drive for our art.
We will be starting our SIXTH year of the Repertory Program in the Fall and would like to expand our portfolios by participating in a couple of conventions over the next year. Unfortunately conventions of this magnitude aren't held here in Yukon. The cost to attend (flights, hotels, registration, etc) is quite expensive and one our pocket books simply can't afford.
We have put our heads together to come up with fundraising/ sponsorship ideas in order to raise money (i.e. homemade lemonade stand raising a whopping $18 this summer...) but have fallen a bit short and is why we are reaching out to you. Every little bit helps..!
