Ghana V.I.P Latrine Project

Currently in Ghana, 21.6 million people are lacking access to an adequate toilet in Ghana. More than four out of five women in Ghana are at risk of shame, disease, harassment, and even attack because they have nowhere safe to go to use the toilet. 2.3 million women are forced to use a toilet in the open, like the one pictured below. Very few women have toilets in their home, and there are even fewer toilets at their place of work.

The goal of this campaign is to raise enough money to build a women's toilet in Ghana (like the one pictured below).  By dedicating more time and money to sanitation efforts, we can help to prevent widespread death and diseases - especially among children - and social marginalization. With your help, we can promote health and wellness, one toilet at a time.

The Ventilated Improved Pit (V.I.P.) Latrine is the model we are using. By including ventilation and promoting constant air circulation, the VIP latrine improves decomposition and prevents flies and odors.
