Papua New Guinea- Kompiam Hospital

Donation protected
Our beautiful friend Keturah Bryson recently moved to remote PNG with her children to take on the role of Director of Nursing at Kompiam Hospital. Keturah was raised in PNG and has been connected with the Kompiam Hospital for a very long time. This little place far away has gotten into our hearts. The stories and photos we have seen have had a huge impact in our lives, and have made us think hard about our purpose here and how we can share what we have to improve the lives of these people. The Kompiam Hospital is remote and can only be accessed by a 4 hour 4wd only road.

The hospital is in urgent need of nappies, baby clothes, light baby blankets, sanitary items for new mums, formula for use in the hospital for severely malnutritioned babies, basic nursing equipment (stethescopes, penlights, thermometres). Currently the only way they can support malnutrioned babies is with watered down powdered milk or the baby is fed by other lactacting mothers.

They also run a training and support program, from the hospital, for village volunteers who run aid posts in over 50 surrounding villages, some of these are a days walk away from  Kompiam Hospital. With some funding they would be able to bring all these volunteers in to Kompiam for 3 weeks of medical training and provide them with a mobile phone with only direct access to the Kompiam Hospital for support and direct access to Doctors and Nurses at the hospital.

Luke and I, along with our 4 boys, Jake, Harley, Indi and Tayer, we will be heading over to volunteer in Kompiam in October this year. We are collecting baby clothes, cloth nappies and blankets, and would love to be able raise enough money to buy some basic nursing supplies for the hospital including nursing textbooks, stethescopes, nursing pouches and similar. We would also love to be able to purchase in bulk some baby formula for use at the Hospital, currently powered milk or other lactating mothers are the only way forms of nutrition for the babies.

These little villages far away in remote places often get overlooked and we hope that we can make just a little difference in the lives of these beautiful people! Thank you for your support!
