Nicole is a hardworking and determined 24-year-old single mother, who is fighting CANCER!
In early 2016, she received the best news of her life... she was pregnant! During her pregnancy, she developed a cough and a pain in her chest that just wouldn’t go away. She thought it was just a bad cold. She gave birth to a wonderful little girl in October 2016 and her total focus became that little girl!
Several months later, Nicole's cough was still hanging on, so she finally went to the doctor. She was told she had pneumonia and was sent home. A few more months went by and her cough was becoming more persistent. In fact, it was getting worse! She went back to the doctor, only to find out she never had pneumonia, it was cancer!
Her biopsy showed it was stage 4, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She began what would be an aggresive treatment plan -- going home just long enough to recover a little and go back to the hospital for another long stay. This meant a lot of time away from her young daughter, making things that much harder for Nicole.
Last Fall, after months of treatment, a new scan showed some cancer and the doctors prescribed radiation. Just as the treatments were nearly finished and Nicole was ready go back to work, her cough returned. The lymphoma had spread!
Nicole is currently under treatment with a stem cell transplant.
