Jackets for the Homeless

Tax deductible
Hello everyone – it’s that time of year again! It’s the official kick-off of our 2021 Jackets for the Homeless Drive.

As we begin this year’s program, we first want to thank all who provided financial support and assistance with the 2020 Jacket Drive. Last year, through your kindness and generosity, over 7,800 of our friends in need received new jackets. These new jackets were distributed to a number of various locations, including approximately 40 homeless shelters, 38 different Catholic Churches, 19 churches/temples of the Christian and Jewish faith, and the Salvation Army. As in the previous year, Pilot Shipping Company was very instrumental in allowing us to send large quantities of jackets throughout the country (for which we are extremely grateful).

With the ongoing Covid virus concerns, we were unsure as to how successful the 2020 Jacket Drive would be, given the limitations and issues associated with the pandemic. However, thanks to all of you and your ongoing support, we are pleased to report that we surpassed our goal in 2020. Loretta and I are so grateful for all the financial donations and hands-on assistance that we received to make the Jacket Drive a success.
As we are all aware, prices have been climbing throughout this past year. This includes the price of the jackets we purchase in Los Angeles. Although we face these higher prices, we are still setting our goal high, and are looking to purchase about 9,000 jackets, and begin distribution soon. If you are interested in participating, either through financial support or assistance in distributing jackets, please contact us. In addition to jackets, we will also be purchasing additional items like socks and underwear – we have found that these are much-needed and much-appreciated items! And as the cold winter months will be here before we know it, we seek to lend a helping hand by providing a warm jacket to those in need. Your support is greatly appreciated!

In an effort to simplify our distribution efforts (and also because we are able to purchase our jackets directly from distributors in Los Angeles), the jackets provided through Transforming a Life are all newly purchased jackets. For this reason, we are respectfully requesting monetary donations only, as opposed to actual clothing donations.
As a reminder, please know that 100% of the funding received is used in purchasing the jackets/clothing, and the donations are tax deductible.

Our mission is to restore and support the basic necessities of life to the needy and homeless through the provision of basic warm clothing and food, and to support those non-profit organizations which provide them shelter, with the ultimate goal of decreasing the numbers of cold and hungry, so that they may conduct their lives in a happy and dignified manner. Your donations are Tax Deductable (EIN:821364285)
