Prayers for Parker

Parker was born about 6 weeks early on June 14, 2014 at York Hospital. After being in NICU, they noticed a heart murmur and began to look more closely at him. After more observation and echocardiograms, they discovered a few holes in his heart and a narrowing in his aortic arch. On June 23, 2014, Parker was transported with a special team via ambulance to Penn State Hershey Mecical Center NICU to play the "Hurry up and wait" game. On Friday, June 27, 2014 when Parker was just shy of 2 weeks of age, he underwent open heart surgery to repair his the aortic arch and place a band around his heart.
It has been a crazy cha-cha since then. You know, one step forward, one step back. As of yesterday, July 6, 2014, the doctor thinks he has finally turned the corner and is headed in the right direction. We still have quite a way to go, but we celebrate each and every progress as a victory.
Mom has been staying up in Hershey at the Ronald McDonald house, while Dad comes up as often as he can while still working and keeping the house going.
We had thought we were prepared for our blessed arrival... and we were... until all this happened. Just today, July 7, 2014, we learned that preemies sometimes need special car seats that are designed for smaller babies. While we had a very nice car seat, we now need another one. As we learn more of the specific needs, we will post updates.
We have had so many people offer to help and ask how they can help, so we finally decided to go ahead and create this page. The reason the goal is set at $10,000.00 is to help with our out-of-pocket expenses. Our insurance out-of-pocket maximum is $10,000.00, but that is strictly medical expenses and doesn't include things like food while Mom is in Hershey, or the new car seat, or help with gas for Dad to get back and forth from Windsor to Hershey.
