BCMTC presents SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE

BCMTC, The Brooklyn College Musical Theatre Collective is a volunteer organization that exists as a result of the determination of a group of progressive thinking students and artists who wish to study, explore and share the art form of musical theatre with their school and neighboring community.
It is undeniable that there is a rebirth of music and the arts in New York City after a global pandemic and it is vital that we continue with decolonizing our existing curricula so that we can continue to become more inclusive for our students and community.
The absence of accredited musical theatre programs and supported artistic opportunities throughout the entirety of The City University of New York represents a gaping hole in the performance curricula for students across multiple disciplines.
Our mission statement is to curate opportunities for all Brooklyn College students from different departments made up of diverse races, ethnicities, gender identities, religious beliefs, sexual orientations and disabilities so that they may explore and experience the inclusive and accessible art form of musical theatre during their studies.
With the support of the Dean of the School of Visual, Media and Performing Arts our team was able to revive this forgotten program by producing the first ever interdepartmental multimedia Student Musical Theatre Showcase at Brooklyn College which featured the diverse talents of a 10 person creative team, 17 actors and a 16 piece orchestra completely made up of current students and alumni working professionally in this industry.
Following this historic triumph, BCMTC is thrilled to announce we will be continuing to work towards fulfilling our mission statement of providing our students performance experiences in this ignored art form by producing our first fully staged licensed musical!

It must be said that this beautiful and important opportunity would not be possible without the moral and financial support of the Dean of The School of Visual, Media and Performing Arts as well as various members of the Brooklyn College administration.
In the same breath, mounting any production of this size and with a company just getting on its feet requires more support than our team currently has available.
THAT'S WHERE YOU COME IN.
BCMTC is looking to raise awareness and further financial support for our needs in order to properly curate this experience for our students.
Your donation will guarantee that the students receive the production value that the mainstage shows of all the accredited arts programs at our school receives.
This includes costs within our budget such as: licensing from Musical Theater International, Sets, Costumes, Props, Projections, Lighting Designer, Stage Manager and facility rental fees.
ANY AMOUNT you are able to give will help our students learn, experience, share and grow through the art form of musical theatre via this rarely produced masterpiece by genius lyricist and composer, Stephen Sondheim.
