Support Recovery Journey After Stroke

Donation protected
It's been an interesting year. Last August I was hospitalized due to an infection in the base of my spine. That led to me being bedridden for about 2 and a half months.

Even to this day there's less than a handful of people who know all about that experience last year. I usually do my best to keep things private, especially the hard stuff.

But to be transparent about that experience it impacted me in a lot of ways. I lost close to 70 lb, most of that muscle. I lost the ability to walk and it took me months to get that back. And it impacted me financially in many ways. Loss of income due to not being able to find new clients and new projects, and doing my best to keep some other projects going while they weren't generating any Revenue.

Been working hard on moving those things forward, and this week had another obstacle occur.

On Tuesday my girlfriend took me to the emergency room because I was having a lot of trouble balancing, walking, doing pretty much anything. When we got to the hospital they did a CT scan and an MRI and have determined that I had a stroke. My right side of my body is only operating at 50% capacity at the moment. Being an amputee, that makes walking impossible. I am currently confined to a hospital bed and my only Mobility at the moment is in a wheelchair. The hope is that I will regain use of my leg and arm, but there is no real timeline on when that could happen.

My girlfriend who travels with me who has her own small business has had to put her business on hold to become my caregiver. She's been staying with me 24/7 and has truly been a lifesaver.

At the moment I have been transferred from the hospital to an Inpatient Rehab Center. We don't know at the moment whether I'll be here a week, or a month.

I'm really not good at asking people for help. I'm used to sucking things up and finding a way to figure things out myself. But at the moment I know that I'm supposed to be focused on recovery, and the financial concerns that are weighing down right now are honestly getting in the way of me being able to fully focus on getting better.

I truly have no idea how this is going to impact my business, my ability to do business, and ultimately what the medical costs are going to be if I have to be in rehab for an extended period of time. So I'm asking for help.

Rather than putting everything on here about what's going on, I'm happy to speak to people individually and answer more questions if you would like to know more. In these challenging times for everyone economically, I know that asking for help like this is a big ask. But I really don't know what other options I have at this moment. I thank you for your consideration, if you are able to support us in any way I am eternally grateful, and if you feel compelled to share this with others I also thank you from the bottom of my heart.
