Leslie's Road To Recovery

Hello Everyone, my name is Jordan Quinto. Leslie and I have been friends since our college days at Washington State University 20 years ago when we were roomates in the dorm our freshman year. Leslie has been going through some serious health issues since September where she was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. Thankfully, this is treatable with an allogeneic stem cell transplant, and her sister thankfully was a match to be her donor. The transplant took place on 10/31/17 at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in Seattle and she is on the road to recovery!

Leslie and her family have recently moved to Bonney Lake and they are our neighbors in a great neighborhood called Tehaleh, only 12 houses down from us! Leslie's husband Mike has great insurance through his work, but they still have a high deductible and yearly out of pocket maximums, and since this happened in September, she will hit the out of pocket max for both 2017 and 2018, $6080 for each year!! Additionally, there are travel expenses that are not being covered, and Leslie is required to stay, when not in the hospital, within 30 minutes of the SCCA Clinic before and 100+ days post-transplant.

This has been a HUGE financial burden for the family, as the lodging alone at the Pete Gross house and the SCCA house are over $3000/month, on top of their mortgage and other normal monthly expenses. Leslie is not able to work (and won't be allowed for 12 months post-transplant) and Mike is still fighting with insurance for payment of the lodging. These expenses are above and beyond the $12,000 in out-of-pocket medical expenses.

The SCCA transplant rules require Leslie to be within 30 minutes (furthest south is Tukwila), and they live 47 miles south in Bonney Lake. However, the insurance travel benefits require you to live 100+ miles from the facility. So they are caught between a rock and a hard place as they are too far for Leslie to live at home, and too close to recieve the insurance travel benefits. They are now on their 3rd round of appeals with their Insurance company.

I have added Mike as the beneficiary so he can make the payments directly to the SCCA House, The Pete Gross House, SCCA Doctors and the pharmacy from the funds we raise. Thank you so much for contributing to help them out!
