Sarah's Recovery

Donation protected
So far this year I've had eight hospitalization and three suicidal attempts. As I compose this from the hospital I'm in now, I know I'm ready to break the cycle with recovery. I'll be going to an Oxford House, which is a residential recovery house in Montgomery County, as early as next week pending my discharge from the hospital. Rent, which includes my own room and 24/7 supervision to keep me safe from destructive behaviors like self-harm is $175 a week and they require a two week security deposit to move in. While I'm there, I'll be temporarily unable to work because I need to participate in an intensive outpatient program that focuses on group therapy and psychoeducation (as well as providing structure for my day) from 12-3 during the week. I'll also have one-on-one therapy with a trauma counselor three times a week. I need funds for medication and therapy copays, public transportation to my day program at Suburban Hospital, which is excellent and has a dual diagnosis track as well as my therapy and psychiatry appointments. I'll also need money for basic living expenses, like toiletries and my phone bill. I've faced homelessness, near death experiences, and emotional anguish this year but after several months in this Oxford House (located in Montgomery County, where my main support system is) I'll be able to return to New York University stable, healthy, and with my full scholarship. That is a major motivation (in addition to preserving my life and health) for me to seek recovery because I value the opportunity I have for higher education - I love school and NYC, and I miss it. I know I've been absent from many of your lives during this past year and that saddens me but I'm ready to reach out and rejoin the community with your support. Anything you can donate will aid me in this process is much appreciated. I want to get back to being the girl in the picture you see on this page, one who is ambitious, brace, kind, and spunky.
