To all my friends, and my community. never did I imagine I would be in this type of position. In the late afternoon on Sunday, June  28, 2020 my son of 49 years old. Went to the Baptist hospital in Miami, FL. with respiratory problems. my son is my best friend, and my hero. He is a Police Officer in Miami, and has been in Law enforcement for over 28 years. He loves his community and his job.  My son was found to have the corona virus and was immediately place on a ventilator, for three weeks and almost died twice. But knowing my faith in jesus, and how strong my son is he survived. My son was taken off the ventilator on Wednesday July 15, 2020. And came to his home on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Due to the sickness my son, sustained a number of complications, such as unable to walk, and damaged lungs. He is on oxygen 24 hours a day and has therapy to rebuild his lungs and strength. He has gained the use of his legs and is now walking, but is unable to walk more than 20 feet, his oxygen drops below 88%. My son has months of extensive rehabilitation.

 his family are now faced with a very long road of intense rehabilitation. His rehab will be grueling, both emotionally and physically for the whole family. In addition to the physical and emotional toll caused by this virus, my son “Joe” and his family will also face severe financial burdens. Even with insurance, medical bills can be a financial burden from doctor’s bills and co-pays to travel costs.  No one wants to have to choose between getting better or paying bills. Many of you have reached out asking how you can help this wonderful man and his family outside of prayers. We are setting up this GoFundME account for this reason, as a way for friends and family, brothers, sisters in the community and brothers and sisters in law enforcement community, to show their love and support for this amazing man who has dedicated over two decades of his life to his community, and his family. No donation is too small. Together we can provide tremendous financial relief for this family so that they can focus on “Joes” rehab and getting healthy and strong.
