For those who don't know this man, this is Doctor Paul Poirier. Paul is the chiropractor & proprietor of Earthway Health in Cornwall and founder of Bikers Against Brain Cancer. Paul has brain cancer.
Paul is a kind soul and has helped so many people in the community. In 2015 he was presented with the volunteer of the year award.
His happy-go-lucky personality is contagious. His laughter, infectious. He loves people and they love him!
Paul has raised thousands of dollars for brain cancer research since 2010 with the help of many dedicated friends. Every dollar was donated to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada and the Montreal Neurological Institute - the workplace of his neurologist, Dr. Kevin Petrecca.
Since Paul's first seizure in 1995, he has undergone 4 brain surgeries, faced a terrible infection after one operation, and holds many months of chemotherapy under his belt to prevent his brain tumour from growing.
This week, his quarterly brain scan showed that his tumour has grown, and it is growing aggressively.
Paul will undergo his 5th brain surgery the first week of November 2018. The surgery will follow with 6 weeks of aggressive daily radiation therapy treatments and chemotherapy.

With this heartbreaking news, Paul is forced to put his chiropractic practice on hold as of November 5th.

Although the income will stop, regular bills and expenses won't - they will actually increase.

3- Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for: I am Paul's best friend.
4- How the funds will be used (be specific as possible):
Paul's income has stopped on October 18th. Raising funds for him is essential. Regular bills still come in regardless if an income does or not. Paul's expenses have already began to climb with his pre-op tests (travelling to and from Montreal, staying over night due to his MRI the following morning to his pre-op tests, lodging, food)
The funds will firstly be used for costs relating to his medical needs and his brain cancer treatments (lodging in Montreal Quebec for 6 weeks at Maison Jacques Campin & Hotels when Maison Jacques Campin is closed (holidays), transportation costs to and from his daily radiation treatments, food, personal supplies (specified hats, clothing, various toiletries...), medications and supplies, transportation home on some weekends (depending on how he feels - these could be gas, bus, taxis or train costs)...etc...
As well, other costs due to follow up doctor appointments during/following his 6 weeks of radiation (medication, transportation, lodging, food...).
Paul will be home until the 3rd week of November. Some of the costs until that time are medication, dietary needs, travel costs to and from doctor's appointments and tests, personal care costs...)
Following Paul's radiation treatments (6 weeks), he will have follow up appointments with his Neurosurgeon in Montreal and will follow 9 months of chemotherapy. The funds will be used for transportation and lodging costs relating to these - whether in Montreal or Cornwall.
Fundraising campaign will continue... Household bills are also a priority, but the last priority.
5- If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for or use the money on their behalf:
I see Paul almost daily, although this will change when he moves to Montreal for his 6 weeks of radiation. All funds are deposited under my name into a specific account and kept track of. This will facilitate payments as Maison Jacques Campin are charging my credit card directly for his lodging. Transportation will also be charged to my credit card when possible. Cash is withdrawn for Paul to have on hand. Other expenses will be charged to my card when possible, otherwise Paul will use cash.
