Help a guy who helped us all.

I am starting this page for my friend Lee who is the good lookin fella in the blue. I met him about 10 years ago at a restaurant and we were part of the opening management team. Lee had just moved up to the King of Prussia area with his 2 boys Mathew and Zack. He quickly became the manager that we all counted on, learned from, depended on and was someone you could look up to. Whenever Lee was asked to come in early or stay late or switch shifts or pretty much do any kind of favor that helped someone else but cost him time and effort, his saying was "If I can help, I will.”. He has always been there for me when others have not. Anyone that has known him for any amount of time would say the same thing. He will give whatever he can if you need help no matter what it means for him. If he has $10 and you need $5 he hands it over no questions asked. A few years back after he was laid off from a job and finding a new one, the week before he was to start he was carrying one of his sons into the house late at night and slipped on ice and broke his ankle bad enough that there are screws and plates in his foot to hold it together. He lost the job because he could not work and received no financial help because he had not started work. About a year later he began bartending with me. A few months later he had a small heart attack. While in the hospital they found an infection in his toe and had to amputate before they could open him up for heart surgery. The past few years have consisted of working 90 hours a week (not an exaggeration) and having the foot operated on when the pain becomes too much to bare all in order to make sure his boys Mathew and Zack are provided for. Now he is at a point where he has 2 choices;
1) He can have an operation to try to fix the foot followed by rehab to learn to walk after it is done. It will put him out of work for about a year and he can’t keep food on the table for his boys if he is not working.
2) He can have the foot cut off below the knee and maybe be back to work in 3 or 4 months.
There is no third choice. No matter what he does he is in a tight spot, which brings me to this fund raising. This is a guy who has never asked for help the entire time I have known him but has financially bailed out more people than I have digits, me being one of those people. The goal here is not for the surgery (which he is going into debt for) but for his monthly expenses so he does not have to choose between his sons wellbeing and his foot. Most fathers say I would cut off my own foot before I would hurt my children, well he is being put to the test. Those who know him, please donate what you can. $20, $10, $5, $1… these are amounts that we can afford to part with. It will add up. And if you see this and don’t know Lee, please help. We all have that friend that you would lay down in traffic for if it would help. Lee is that friend.
