A Penny for Penelope

Donation protected

On April 18th, 2014 the Clarkson family, welcomed their second child into the world. A beautiful daughter- Penelope Lou Patricia.
At 6lbs 11oz, little Penelope was pettit and "perfect".
What they didn't now was that their little girl was already working harder then any baby should.
When Peneolpe was born at home all of the normal checks were done, and she was given a clean bill of health...
Little Penny was only a few days old when her mom tried telling the Doctors that her breathing seemed off.. she was assured it was fine.
Just a week before Penelopy turned two months old she had the same concern over her breathing and was brought to the doctors again. Once again, her Mom was re-assured she was fine. That same night Peneolopy was taken to the emergency room and everything changed. Little's Penny was running on 60% oxygen and the doctors didn't understand why she was not blue.. test after test and x-rays, scans etc were performed, and then came the dredfull news...
Little Penelopy has dextrocardia and Pulminary Artesia.
Two seperate issues with her heart.
The first is Dextrocardia - her heart is on the opposite side of her chest and tilted. This alone can be ok if the heart is functioning properly, however Penelopy also has Pulonary Artesia.
The abnormal development of the pulmonary valve prevents oxygen-poor blood from passing from the right atrium to the right ventricle and on to the lungs as it should. Medical and surgical interventions are required, since oxygen-poor blood cannot meet the body’s demands, and this situation cannot support life.
To add to the defects the ductus arteriosus valve that,in most babies starts to close at first breath did not close in Penelope's case. In fact she has two of these valves and they are the reason she is not "blue" as this is allowing some oxygen to her heart.
Unfortunatly with all these issues little Penny's heart is working like a machine, she is struggling to gain weight and is now on a feeding tube waiting for her day in the operating room.

This is where this web page comes in. Two days ago the family learned that little penelope is showing signs of heart failure, they are currently awaiting surgery at sick kids in Toronto. Surgery has been bump to July 23,2014.
I have created this page to help with the burden of all the out of pocket expences that her parents are going through and to add some financial assistance for the family.

Your donations and prayers for this sweet innocent little baby is appeciated.
