Daxxton's Journey

Our son Daxxton was born at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre at 27 weeks and 5 days gestation on June 28, 2014. During that four week period he required CPAP breathing assistance, two IV's, round the clock skin-to-skin care from both of us and a feeding tube, while in the level 3 NICU. Daxxton no longer requires breathing assistance or any IV. Now only needing the care of a level 2 NICU, he has been transferred to Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. Had it not been for your donations, we wouldn't have been able to stay with our son this long.
Since being transferred to RVH in Barrie, the expenses of gas, food, parking continue to build up and being a level 2 NICU - there are no sleeping accomdations available to us.
Daxxton requires hours of skin-to-skin care from both of us in order to stimulate his brain development and nurture the undeveloped nervous system he has. This will encourage growth, eventually allowing him to stop having desaturation and bradycardia spells. Feeding without a tube is also a huge milestone required to safely go home. As you can imagine, this is a 24 hour situation, all day, every day, making it impossible to generate an income for both of us. Paying basic bills and affording our rent has also become a huge challenge and added stress to our situation.
The Lord has blessed us with this precious miracle and he will give us and our children the strength to get through this. We are truly grateful for any assistance on this difficult journey. Thank you and God bless.
