A Home for a Family in Need in Nicaragua

The Vega family is a wonderful Nicaraguan family living in unfortunate circumstances. Their family of 4- mother, father, and 2 young boys- is impoverished and live in a 12ft by 12ft cement room with no windows.  They cook outdoors, have no indoor plumbing, and use an outhouse. They have touched our lives in immeasurable ways and we hope to make a difference in their lives, as they have in ours.  Until now their dream of building a new home has been just that, a dream.  We hope, with your help, to make it a reality.

Our family has been living in Nicaragua for the past 9-10 months. Nicaragua is the 2nd poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, just behind Haiti. The strength of the Nicaraguan people is astounding. The mother of this particular family, Rosalba, has been working in our home 8 of the 9/10 months we have been here. She has helped to take care of our 15 month old little girl and six year old boy who have both grown very attached to her children. She is a strong, kind, loving and humble woman. She and her husband work hard everyday, but simply do not make enough to take care of their family's day to day needs and save up for a new home. They have managed to buy some material here and there but they have a long way to go. With our help, and yours, we can help them reach their dream of living in a modest, sound and functional home.

The total project cost is $4,435. We are contributing $1,000 and friends have already helped raise another $1,000. We are asking for help with the difference of $2,435 to complete the whole project that will include 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and living room area, indoor plumbing, electricty, doors, windows and paint.  Anything raised above the project cost will help in adding a bathroom, and buying a stove and refrigerator.
