You and Beth are very alike. You both live in the Shire, you both watch the news, and you are both anxious and stressed about the Covid 19 pandemic.
But imagine you didn’t have support from friends or family. Imagine you had been crashing on your mate’s couch for fear of going back to your parent’s house. Imagine not being able to afford your own food.
Imagine not having a safe place to call home.
For young people like Beth, living just down the road from you, this is reality.
Beth became homeless after a relationship breakdown with her Mum and Dad. They argued, and these arguments soon became physical. Beth became unsafe in her own home.
We’re told “stay at home saves lives” – but does it always?
Now, more than ever, we need to shine a light on Youth Homelessness in our community.
You can save a young person from self-isolation in a dangerous household. You can feed a young person who is facing unemployment and hunger. You can give a young person a place to live, where “staying at home” is actually safe and secure.
You can tell a homeless young person like Beth – YOU MATTER.
