FB Gratitude Group Fundraiser

When my dad started the Facebook Gratitude Group in May of 2012, it was simply a way to share gratitude with his friends. He was grateful to be alive after having radical quadruple bypass open-heart surgery to save his life in 2009, and he felt that a FB Group was a way to share his gratitude to others.

The Group had a positive perspective as a result of my dad considering and approving (or not) every post, and it grew. In the past six months, however, that growth has become exponential.
Perhaps this was a result of the pandemic or because people are online more. Or maybe folks just want more genuine expressions of gratitude in these troubling times. Regardless of the reason, the small FB Gratitude Group that began eight-plus years ago has grown to nearly 70,000 members with hundreds of new posts and comments every day. And it continues to expand with my dad and a few volunteers curating it and approving (or not) every post.
If you look through the posts and comments, you’ll see why hundreds of people say it is the most positive, inspirational site on the Internet. I can certainly understand the need for connection through gratitude online right now.
And my dad continues to monitor it several times every day from the same iMac that he’s been using for the past 12 years. That old iMac is slow and often freezes, but it still does that job. It just takes much longer than is necessary, and its days are numbered.
That’s why I created this community funding page. My dad needs a new, faster computer with enough speed and space to continue this work and a laptop to continue the work remotely.
Many people are grateful because my dad continues to curate this Group, but he’s in real need of some new technology to continue on. One of the members of the Gratitude Group wrote that if everyone would simply give a dollar, we could buy him a new computer, and that was the impetus for this crowdfunding effort.

Check out the Group, and see if you think it’s worth keeping alive and well. Then, consider donating a dollar or two or fifty or whatever works for you. It will make a huge difference in keeping the message of Gratitude alive and well on Facebook and in the world.
Any money over our goal will be used to fund the publication of my dad's new gratitude book, tentatively titled Start With Gratitude, Practical Advice for Dealing With Troubling Times, and the creation of online (and someday live / in-person) gratitude events.
