Let’s help save Lucy’s life - Todos por Lucy

Being Lucy’s goddaughter is a blessing; it's having a second mom, an aunt, a friend and more. People like Lucy are angels on earth. But she has just come across one of the most miserable paths of life.

Luz Maria Cruz, known as "Lucy", wins your hearts from the first moment you meet her with her generosity, her joyful spirit and her humility.  Her truly unconditional love makes her as a great example of humanity, of fellowship, where she has always been there to support us in the good and not so good times of our lives.

A month ago, Lucy was diagnosed with predominantly follicular lymphoma, >75 grade 1-2 stage III Flipi 3, which is a type of cancer involving certain types lymphocytes in the blood. There’s hope to cure it with 6-8 cycles of chemotherapy. She will have to do constant tests, medical studies and treatments to see her progress, such as spinal cord punctures, full body CAT scans throughout the treatment, chemotherapy, etc.

Lucy lives in Venezuela and is currently unemployed, like 80% of Venezuelans, without the benefits of social security or state healthcare that could help her despite working all of her life and paying her taxes. She lives from her pension and help from her friends. But now she’ll need much more than that. She, like many others, deserves the hope to keep living. Cancer takes over your life without asking for permission or giving a warning; it doesn’t care who you are, what your social conditions may be, or whether you can emotionally or economically afford it. But the big truth is that to fight the horrible battle against cancer, at least for Lucy, you have to have the monetary provision, either from the state or your own, to at least have a chance to live. Lucy has neither.

This is when you, who is reading this right now, whether a friend of Lucy or simply an angel from this world, I humbly ask you for an act of charity through a donation. It doesn’t matter how small your gift is, but it will help Lucy see her wish of starting and completing her treatment against cancer. In return,  you will feel the peace and satisfaction of having helped save the life of another beautiful human being that only has a desire to live, and has her hope pinned on your contribution.

The cost for 6 cycles of chemotherapy is about $32,895 (USD). The doctor fees are $1,000 for the whole chemotherapy treatment. In total for all cycles of chemotherapy treatments, the cost is about $33,895.
