Uno de los albergues más emblemáticos del Camino de Santiago, el Ave Fénix de Villafranca del Bierzo, necesita ayuda para superar la situación derivada del Covid.

 

A pesar de que el refugio ha mantenido sus puertas abiertas durante el Estado de Alarma, acogiendo a decenas de personas sin hogar... Apenas están pasando peregrinos desde marzo 2020.

 

Jesús Jato, responsable del Ave Fénix y una de las personas que más ha hecho por el Camino, pide una colaboración para poder adaptar el albergue y la cocina cuanto antes (ya estamos en ello pero faltan fondos) creando zonas exteriores y así poder cumplir con la normativa y poder acoger peregrinos cuando vuelvan a venir (No existen ayudas oficiales para este tipo de establecimientos no turísticos).

 

El Ave Fénix (Premio Elías Valiña 2001 y Atractivo Cultural por el Patronato de Turismo del Bierzo ) fue uno de los 3 primeros refugios contemporáneos del Camino de Santiago. Bajo las carpas del invernadero familiar se acogió y alimentó peregrinos sin pedir en un principio ni siquiera un donativo a cambio. Tras el incendio que devastó el lugar, peregrinos/as de todo el mundo volvieron a Villafranca para devolver tanta generosidad recibida ayudando a Jato a construir el albergue, con piedras, madera y demás material reutilizado. Hoy tu ayuda sigue siendo igual de vital para que el Ave Fénix vuelva a resurgir de sus cenizas.
