Soy Angelica Latif, soy venezolana y con profundo dolor deje mi país hace varios años, ahora resido en Pensacola, Florida y con tristeza veo por el doloroso momento que está pasando mi querida Venezuela. Mucho más en este momento, cuando mi primo, el Alberto Morales, de 54 años y que reside en Barquisimeto, Estado Lara, Venezuela ha sido diagnosticado con un tumor de cabeza de páncreas (un adenocarcinoma bien diferenciado) el 30 de mayo del 2017.
Alberto es médico especializado en ginecología y obstetricia desde hace 23 años, y ha dedicado su vida profesional a ayudar a quienes más lo necesitan, prestando su servicio en el Hospital Central Universitario Dr. Antonio María Pineda desde hace 30 años.
El 19 de junio del 2017 fue sometido a un Whipple, un procedimiento sumamente agresivo en el cual removieron parte del páncreas y los ganglios que lo rodean, el duodeno, parte de su estómago y la vesicular biliar, y para sorpresa de muchos, y gracias a Dios y a la Virgen, el tumor de 4 cm no estaba invadiendo ninguna estructura cercana y todos los ganglios resultaron negativos, lo que sugiere que no tiene metástasis.
Sin embargo, debe completar 6 ciclos de tratamiento quimioterápico para ASEGURAR SU TOTAL CURACIÓN, pero desafortunadamente, Venezuela atraviesa uno de los momentos más oscuros de su historia, y la escasez de medicamentos e insumos le hace imposible conseguir las drogas que necesita, y el control cambiario no permite tener libre acceso a monedas internacionales.
Dos antineoplásicos, la GEMCITABINA y el ERLOTINIB (TARCEVA) son necesarios para completar su esquema. Él debe usar tabletas de TARCEVA de 150 mg (una diaria por 6 meses) y el costo mensual de esta sola droga es de 55 salarios mínimos calculados al dólar oficial, y 6 veces más al dólar negro.

Alberto have been an obstetrician/gynecologist for 23 years, and He has dedicated his professional life to help those who need it the most, working at the Central Hospital for 30 years.
On June 19th a whipple procedure was performed to remove the tumor, in which surgeons removed the head of the pancreas, the gallbladder, part of the duodenum, a small portion of the stomach, and the lymph nodes near the head of the pancreas. The 4 cm tumor was not invading any near structure, and the lymph nodes were all negative, which meant there was no metastasis.
However, he needs chemotherapy in order to have a FULL RECOVERY from this disease. Unluckily, my country is going through its darkest moments, and because of the dearth, there are no chemotherapy drugs and he has no access to internacional currency.
GEMCITABINA and ERLOTINIB (TARCEVA) are required for his treatment. He has to take this last drug daily for 6 months, and 1 box (30 tablets) costs 1.800 USD.
