 Recurrimos como familia a ustedes en este momento tan difícil para pedir apoyo. Mi hermano fue detenido por ICE el día 9 de julio a las 7:20 de la mañana en nuestra casa, delante de mi hijo menor, y sin la posibilidad de llevarse consigo todo su tratamiento médico, indispensable para su salud física y mental. Fue enviado al centro de detención de Irwin, en Ocilla, Georgia, donde pasó sus últimos días encerrado y separado de nosotros.

 El día 13 de julio, mientras hacía el trámite para obtener sus registros médicos y poder enviarlos al centro de detención y a los abogados, recibí una llamada del centro de detención en la que me informaban que mi hermano había sufrido un paro cardíaco y había sido declarado muerto.

 Jesus Manuel tenia una condición médica por la que necesitaba que su tratamiento le fuera permitido diariamente, al momento de su detención solo permitieron llevarse una de los cuatro medicamentos para tratar su condición médica.

 Jesús Manuel ha dejado en nosotros un vacío infinito, opaco y doloroso. Un hijo amado, 8 años sin ver a nuestra adorada madre en Venezuela, fue un hermano sobreprotector, cuidador, sensato, trabajador y responsable, un excelente tío, un primo amado, un nieto añorado por los abuelos.

 Con el corazón destrozado, estamos recaudando fondos para ayudar a cubrir los servicios funerarios y la repatriación de su cuerpo a Venezuela, donde nuestra familia lo espera para que sea velado y enterrado en nuestra amada Venezuela, junto a los familiares, y pueda tener un entierro digno, ya que perdió la vida bajo custodia de ICE, solo, con dolor y la soledad que ninguna persona merece a la hora de su partida física.

 On July 9, 2026, Jesús Manuel Arenas-Silva was detained by ICE during an early morning arrest at his family's home in Georgia. According to his family, he was not permitted to take all of the medications he relied upon to manage serious medical conditions before being transferred to the Irwin County Detention Center.

 Just four days later, on July 13, while his sister was gathering his medical records to send to the detention center and his attorneys, she received the devastating phone call that Jesús Manuel had suffered a cardiac arrest while in ICE custody and passed away.

 Jesús Manuel was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin, and friend. After eight years away from Venezuela, his family now faces the heartbreaking task of bringing him home so he can finally be laid to rest beside those who love him.

 He was known for his kindness, dedication to his family, and the way he always cared for others before himself. He dreamed of one day returning to Venezuela to embrace his mother after eight long years apart. Those who knew him remember his sensitivity, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.
