Hola y muchas gracias por darle click a esta página para enterarte más sobre esta campaña. Mi nombre es Mayi, en nombre de mi familia quiero compartir con ustedes información sobre mi abuela Lili y su condición actual de salud.
Mi abuela Lili cumple 67 años este mes de enero, vive en Caracas, Venezuela, madre de cuatro hijos (Dolly, Katty, Puli y David) y abuela de tres nietos (mi hermano Alejandro, mi primo Maxi y yo). Mi abuela siempre se ha caracterizado por su alegría, su bellísima voz y sobre todo por sus ganas de vivir. Tiene cáncer de piel; ya son 15 años desde la primera vez que fue diagnosticada con melanoma. Un primer tumor en la espalda en el año 2005, un segundo tumor en la axila derecha en el año 2008, un tercer tumor en la axila izquierda en el año 2017, y ella con su actitud nos demostró que su aferro a la vida, su fe y su compromiso a curarse siempre fue más grande que los diagnósticos.
Lamentablemente, el pasado mes de agosto 2020 se confirma que el melanoma regreso, y esta vez el diagnostico es mucho más serio, un tumor en la cara con metástasis en el cerebro y en los huesos. En el mes de octubre se realizó una Radio Cirugía para tratar las lesiones del cerebro y en el mes de noviembre se realizaron diez sesiones de Radio Terapia para reducir el tumor de la cara que se encuentra del lado derecho entre la mandíbula y el músculo masetero.
Como familia hemos podido salir adelante con los gastos de citas médicas, exámenes, medicinas, tratamientos y procedimientos médicos, en una Venezuela con una economía compleja, de gran inflación y dolarizada. Vienen más gastos para poder continuar con los próximos pasos, entre ellos la inmunoterapia que es clave, ya que es el tratamiento sistémico más efectivo para melanoma metastásico, tiene un costo bastante elevado por el precio de las drogas y además que en Venezuela no se cuenta con medicamentos oncológicos de este tipo y se deben comprar en algún otro país. Por ejemplo, en Colombia:
- Nivolumab de 100mg cuesta 1690 dólares americanos por cada ampolla.
- Ipilimumab de 50mg cuesta 4480 dólares americanos por cada ampolla.
Y eventualmente, se requiere una operación para remover el tumor de la cara y reconstruir la mandíbula.
Es por ello que les pido su apoyo para que juntos logremos que mi abuela tenga recursos y acceso a todo lo que la medicina tiene disponible para tratar melanoma metastásico aplicado a su condición. Quiero ayudar a mi abuela Lili a tener salud, que siga disfrutando de su vida y que continúe compartiendo su alegría a donde quiera que va.

My grandma Lili is turning 67 in a few weeks (January 19th). She lives in Caracas, Venezuela, mother of 4 (Dolly, Katty, Puli and David) and a grandma of 3 (my brother Alejandro, my cousin Maxi and me). My grandmother has always been characterized by her joy, beautiful voice, and above all by her will to live. She has skin cancer; it has been 15 years since she was first diagnosed with melanoma: a first tumor in her back in 2005, a second tumor in the right armpit in 2008, a third tumor in the left armpit in 2017. With her attitude, Lili showed us that her hold on life, her faith and her commitment to heal were always more significant than the diagnoses.
Unfortunately, it was confirmed last August 2020 that the melanoma is back, and this time is more severe and aggressive. She was diagnosed with a tumor in her face with metastasis in the brain and bones. In October 2020, a Radio Surgery was performed to treat brain lesions. In November 2020, ten sessions of Radio Therapy were conducted to reduce the tumor on the face located on the right side between the jaw and the masseter muscle.
As a family, we have been able to move forward with the expenses of medical appointments, exams, medicines, treatments and medical procedures in a Venezuela with a complex economy, high inflation and dollarized. There are more expenses to cover to continue with the next steps, including immunotherapy, which is crucial since it is the most effective systemic treatment for metastatic melanoma. It has a reasonably high cost due to the price of the drugs and in Venezuela, it is currently not possible to find oncological medications of this type so they must be purchased in other countries. For example, in Colombia:
- Nivolumab 100mg - US$1690 for each injection.
- Ipilimumab 50mg - US$4480 for each injection.
And eventually, surgery will be needed to remove the tumor from the face and rebuild the jaw.
Therefore, I kindly ask for your support so that together we can ensure that my grandmother has resources and access to everything that medicine has available to treat metastatic melanoma applied to her condition. I want to help my grandmother Lili be healthy, continue enjoying her life, and keep sharing her joy wherever she goes.
