 Mi nombre es José Manuel Cortes Cerón, soy estudiante de Ingeniería en Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicaciones en el Instituto Tecnológico Superior del Occidente del Estado de Hidalgo (ITSOEH), y estoy a punto de cumplir una de las metas más importantes de mi vida: realizar una estancia académica en Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), en China.

 Esta oportunidad no comenzó solamente con una solicitud de intercambio. Desde 2025 he colaborado con investigadores y estudiantes de XJTLU en proyectos relacionados con inteligencia artificial, Internet de las Cosas, robótica y desarrollo de software. A partir de esa colaboración también participé activamente en el proceso que permitió fortalecer la relación entre XJTLU y mi universidad en México, abriendo nuevas oportunidades de movilidad para otros estudiantes.

 Aunque el periodo ordinario de admisión ya estaba prácticamente cerrado, XJTLU me permitió participar en un proceso extraordinario y fui aceptado para cursar el programa BEng (Hons) Internet of Things Engineering with Contemporary Entrepreneurialism durante el semestre septiembre de 2026 a febrero de 2027.

 La universidad en China me brinda la exención de colegiatura gracias al acuerdo de intercambio, pero todavía debo cubrir los gastos relacionados con vuelos internacionales, alojamiento, alimentación, visa, seguro, transporte y manutención durante mi estancia.

 Mi familia y yo hemos hecho un gran esfuerzo para reunir una parte importante de los recursos, y también he buscado apoyo en instituciones públicas y privadas. Sin embargo, aún necesito completar el presupuesto necesario para poder realizar el viaje y mantenerme durante los meses que estaré en China.

 Para mí, este viaje representa mucho más que estudiar un semestre en el extranjero. Es la oportunidad de continuar trabajando con personas con las que ya he desarrollado proyectos, aprender en un entorno internacional y regresar a México con nuevos conocimientos, contactos y experiencias que puedan convertirse en nuevas oportunidades para más estudiantes.
