<div>Este 10 de agosto en la mañana un terremoto de magnitud 7,4 sacudió el oeste de Colombia cerca al Chocó e impactó todo un país. El temblor ha causado más de 100 muertes y esa cifra sigue creciendo. Este terremoto destruyó edificios, apartamentos, casas, colegios, y a familias que están esperando noticias de familiares o buscando donde dormir esta noche. Mientras todo esto pasa, tenemos héroes y rescatistas tratando de buscar personas atrapadas bajo los escombros para volver a unir familias.

<div>Toda mi familia es Colombiana. Un año y medio antes de que yo hubiera nacido mis papás se mudaron de Bogota a California buscando un nuevo comienzo. Aunque yo nunca he vivido en Colombia, he ido todos los veranos desde que soy bebé y es el pais donde vive mucha de mi familia y también amigos que están impactado por este temblor. Colombia no es solamente un país que estoy viendo de distancia y pienso “que pesar” es un país que tiene a la gente que amo y me duele el alma ver a mis paisanos sufrir de esta manera cuando ya les ha tocado luchar por tantos años.

<div>Por estas razones estoy recaudando fondos para Global Giving. Esta organización toma las donaciones que reciben y lo envían a grupos locales en Colombia enfocados en apoyar con cualquier subsidio necesario para la gente impactado por el terremoto. Todos los fondos recaudados van directamente a Colombia y estas organizaciones locales.

<div>On the morning of August 10th, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia, near Chocó, affecting the entire country. The quake has caused over 100 deaths, and that number continues to rise. It has destroyed buildings, apartments, homes, and schools, and devastated families who are now waiting for news about loved ones or searching for a place to sleep tonight. Amidst this crisis, heroes and rescue workers are searching for people trapped under the rubble, striving to reunite families.

<div>My entire family is Colombian. A year and a half before I was born, my parents moved from Bogotá to California in search of a fresh start. Although I have never lived in Colombia, I have visited every summer since I was a baby; it is home to much of my family and many friends who have been affected by this earthquake. Colombia is not just a country I view from afar with a sense of pity; it is home to the people I love, and it breaks my heart to see my fellow Colombians suffering like this after having already endured so many years of struggle.

<div>For these reasons, I am raising funds for GlobalGiving. This organization takes the donations it receives and channels them to local groups in Colombia dedicated to providing essential aid to those affected by the earthquake. All funds raised go directly to Colombia and these local organizations.
