AYUDA A LA FAUNA SALVAJE A RECUPERAR SU HOSPITAL DE GREFA

La borrasca "Filomena" ha causado daños muy cuantiosos a nuestro centro de recuperación y hospital de fauna, en Majadahonda (Madrid). La caída de árboles y la nieve acumulada han destruido una parte importante de nuestras instalaciones, resultando muy afectadas las de cría en cautividad de especies amenazadas y educación ambiental, y ha puesto en graves aprietos a los animales que mantenemos. Ante esta catástrofe hacemos un llamamiento solicitando toda la colaboración posible. ¡Muchas gracias!

The storm "Filomena" has caused considerable damage to our recovery centre and wildlife hospital in Majadahonda (Madrid). Falling trees and the accumulated snow have destroyed an important part of our facilities, being the captive breeding of endangered species and environmental education the most seriously affected ones. It has also put the animals we keep in serious trouble. Faced with this catastrophe, we make an appeal requesting all possible collaboration. Thanks a lot!

 
Cada euro cuenta, aun así queremos recompensar a todas aquellas personas que participan donando en este crowfunding. Antes de nada, que es GREFA. GREFA es una ONG que cumple 40 años precisamente este año ayudando a fauna salvaje herida y a especies en peligro de extinción en la península ibérica ampliando sus proyectos a nivel internacional. Tienes toda la información sobre GREFA en nuestra web GREFA

En la madrugada del pasado sábado 9 de enero, debido a las inclemencias meteorológicas derivadas del temporal de nieve, cayeron gran cantidad de ramas y troncos de pinos sobre nuestras instalaciones del Monte del Pilar de Majadahonda, causando grandes destrozos. A la mañana siguiente, cuando pudieron acercarse nuestros primeros trabajadores para alimentar y atender a los animales del Centro de Recuperación y Hospital de Fauna Salvaje de GREFA, hicimos una primera valoración de los daños y nos pusimos manos a la obra para rescatar y reubicar al mayor número de animales que estaban en las instalaciones que han resultado más dañadas. La situación era aún tan extrema y peligrosa que algunos pinos seguían cediendo y derribando instalaciones mientras nuestros compañeros seguían trabajando.



Al día siguiente, domingo 10 de enero, ya con mejores condiciones meteorológicas, pudimos movilizar a medio centenar de voluntarios que, a pesar de las grandes dificultades de acceso al Monte del Pilar, se organizaron para llegar a nuestro centro y ayudarnos a despejar pistas y caminos, retirar restos de árboles, quitar nieve y atender a los animales. A todos ellos queremos agradecer toda su dedicación y esfuerzo, sin las cuales habría sido imposible todo el trabajo ya realizado para normalizar la situación.

Un golpe muy duro
No podemos negar que el golpe ha sido muy duro para nuestro centro y nuestros proyectos en favor de la recuperación de la fauna salvaje y la defensa de la biodiversidad, precisamente en el año en el que GREFA cumple 40 años de actividad ininterrumpida.

Con todo lo dicho, apelamos a la ayuda y solidaridad de la ciudadanía, empresas, administraciones y de la sociedad en general en las tareas de restauración que llevaremos a cabo de ahora en adelante.



At Saturday dawn, January 9th, due to the inclement weather resulting from the snowstorm, a large number of branches and pine trunks fell on our facilities (Monte del Pilar, Majadahonda), causing huge damages. The next morning, when our first workers were able to arrive with the task of feeding and caring for the animals from GREFA’s Wildlife Hospital and Recovery Centre, we realised about the damages and got down to work to rescue and relocate the greatest number of animals, which were housed in the most damaged facilities.  The situation was still so extreme and dangerous that some pines continued to yield and demolish facilities while our workmates kept working.

The following day, Sunday, January 10th, with better weather conditions, we were able to mobilize fifty volunteers who, despite the great difficulties of access to the pine forest were GREFA is located, were able to arrive to our centre and help us clear tracks and paths, removing tree debris, shovelling snow and tending to animals. We would like to thank all of them for all their dedication and effort, without which all the work already done to normalize the situation would have been impossible.
A very hard blow

We cannot deny that the blow has been very hard for our centre and our projects, which work in favour of the recovery of wild fauna and the defence of biodiversity, and precisely in the year in which GREFA celebrates 40 years of uninterrupted activity.

All this said, we appeal to the help and solidarity of citizens, companies, administrations and society in general in the restoration tasks that we will carry out from now on.
