Operation:Save Dave's Ass

In an effort to raise money for my Father-In-Law, David Kimbro, I've created this group to see if anyone might be able to help. This past March, David went to the hospital very ill. The doctors discovered a large mass in his colon. He underwent a major emergency surgery that same day to remove the large tumor which had erupted his intestine. The biopsy taken during his surgery came back and Dave was diagnosed with Stage III Colon Cancer. Two weeks later, he was released from the hospital. Dave returned to work 3 short weeks later in an effort to maintain an income for his household and keep the bills paid. Dave doesn't sit at a desk all day in his job either. Instead, he is a hard-working independent painter/general contractor.

May 16th, on Dave's 60th birthday, he returned to the emergency room for complications associated with the surgery, where he stayed for several days. Last month, Dave endured another surgery to remove his colostomy bag and reconnect his large and small intestines. This was approximately a week-long stay. He went back to work less than 2 weeks after being released, weeks before he should have. He still has a long road ahead of him, including chemotherapy, which he is supposed to begin this Thursday, July 3rd. Fortunately, he has been able to secure coverage of chemo through the Veteran's Affairs.

My in-laws did not have medical insurance at the time of the initial surgery and hospital stay. Although they have since secured some medical coverage, they are still having a hard time being able to make payments on all of Dave's medical bills, premiums, as well as general living expenses and bills. Like many families we all know, prior to Dave's diagnosis, he had experienced some financial hardships. Because of the many weeks of work he has already missed, as well as the numerous days of work he will soon miss while receiving chemo, Dave needs our support and assistance. I'm asking all of my friends and anyone they may know to help.  All proceeds will go to David's living expenses and medical bills.

Any small donation will help. I really hope that we can reach this goal of $10,000 and help take some stress off of this man and let him heal the way he needs to.
