Scott Ahearn DTS/India Mission

This group has changed alot over the time, so I'm trying to keep all the information up here!  In one month I am feeling called to go out to India as a part of a global missionary effort.  I am very nervous for what God is calling me to do once there, but I know that he will guide me through every step.

I got to sit down with my mentor and talk a bit about raising support this past week. It has been a very tender subject for me because first off I’m very independent; and second I haven’t really felt like I deserved it. Before I started this course I was stupid with my money; paying way too much on rent and not tracking well how much I was spending. Then one day all my time to save was over and the course was soon to start. In the end it wouldn’t have made much a difference, but it was enough to annoy me. It’s been hard to let this go, but I was just at a rough stage of the game that I couldn’t see past. That time was a definite low point; I was just trying to make it through to Discipleship Training Course.

The other thing that has really held me back from asking for support has been that my course, thus far, has been in many ways self-intensive. I am so thankful and confused by early donations that helped me to pay off the lecture fees. Without this training I wouldn’t be ready to go out and it has provided such a basis for more effective ministry especially since we worked through it as a team.

Now I am moving into the mission phase of the trip, which will be challenging and more outwardly focused. It feels like I have seen many of these letters from other missionaries, sometimes giving and sometimes not; but seeing things from the other side really changes perspective. I am growing this entreprenurial view, and this is my pitch. I will be going to Kolkata as a part of MegaCities, http://www.ywamperth.org.au/missions/megacities/. I truly believe that God is moving in this region and that he is calling more than just my team. The whole point of MegaCities is to flood a city with God’s love, which people can do from all over the world.

Helping to fund the trip is just one way you can take part. The largest way you can invest is to pray with belief. Your return on investment, prayer, funding, whatnot, is not only in the expansion of the Kingdom in India but the expansion of God’s kingdom as I continue to live out my life in all corners of the world. After this DTS I would like to return to my job in Norway (probably because I’m sick of being supported by others)! In Norway I have daily opportunities to show God to tourists. I am slowly learning how to open my life and evangelize through average interactions, and am praying for this to blossom in India. Looking a bit further I’d love to be back in Australia creating this DTS experience for others and getting geared up for what God is calling me to. Who knows where I will end up; but where ever I go, I will take these experiences with me.

We are a team of strong personalities and have a few more weeks to grow together and become one body. The diversity of our team is just astonishing and I am so curious what God has up his sleeve.
