A Better Future For Ayden

THE BACK STORY: Ayden spent his first week of life in the neonatal intensive care unit and since has been fighting one medical battle after another, the biggest being his severe scoliosis.
Ayden has two curves in his back, one is 71 degrees and the other is 103. Doctors don’t know what caused the curves, he wasn’t born with them, but we have tried everything doctors have suggested to help get him corrected. We started with removeable braces then went to non-removable full upper body casting and nothing seemed to work.
Two years ago, we were told that the only option we had was to have magnetic rods implanted in his back, which is a major surgery that would have many complications. The doctors were not even sure they would be able to fit both rods in his back, explaining that only after opening him up would they be able to say for certain. We thought that this was the only choice left, but God seems to have other plans for Ayden. We scheduled the surgery, got down to the hospital and as they were getting the operating room ready for him he got sick and the doctors had no choice but to cancel it. Both his mom and I saw this as a sign that Ayden was not meant to have the surgery and instead we needed to find other options.
OTHER OPTIONS: During the last two years we have researched and explored other options, so we could avoid Ayden having surgery. We found a health center in Campbell, California that specializes in correcting adolescent idiopathic scoliosis without surgery. We sent them all 300+ pages of Ayden’s medical records plus all the x-rays, CT scans and MRI’s. Our prayers have been answered; they believe that they can correct Ayden's curves without surgery. They will need 3-4 consecutive weeks of in office visits to get started. The cost is going to range anywhere from $28,000 to $36,000, for the first 6 months of treatment, and after the initial stay we will need to go back to the health center every three months for a week at a time. Our insurance will only cover a portion of the cost and this is where we are asking for help from our family and friends.
HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
1. All donations toward our goal would be greatly appreciated. All donations will go towards paying for the office visits, medical equipment and expenses incurred by having to travel and stay in California (3 to 4 weeks for the first visit).
2. Please share this will all your family and friends because the more people that see this, the better chance we have at helping Ayden correct his back without surgery.
